(CEP News) - A Bank of Japan report suggests that the number of outstanding loans from Japanese banks increased by 2.1% on the year in July compared to a 1.96% gain in June. The report also said that outstanding loans to corporations increased by 1.02% compared to June's 0.93% rise.
Loans to individuals rose 2.94% on the year compared to a previous 2.84% increase, while those made to persons overseas increased by 8.34% compared to June's annual 4.4% growth rate. On Aug. 8, the Bank of Japan reported an annual 1.8% increase in bank lending including trusts for July, short of expectations for a 2.0% increase and June's 1.8% rise. Excluding trusts, lending advanced 2.0% on the year, matching the previous month's gain, and adjusted bank lending rose 2.5%, in line with forecasts and above the previous month's 2.4% gain.
