Japan's Economic Confidence Continues to Sag in April |

(CEP News) - According to a survey by the Economic and Social Research Institute, the Japanese current economic conditions index declined in April to 35.5 from the March level of 36.9.
The report shows that current household economic conditions dropped in April to 35.6 from the March reading of 37.4. Current business economic conditions slipped to 35.9 from the March reading of 36.00. Employment confidence slid in April to 33.6 from 35.5, its ninth straight monthly decline since August 2007. The overall confidence outlook for households also fell in April to 36.1 from the previous month's total of 38.2. The April outlook for business rose to 36.4 from the March reading of 36.1. The overall employment outlook in April slumped to 34.4 from the previous month of 39. A reading of below 50 indicates that people think that economic conditions are worsening in Japan.
