BOC's Carney Says Economy Is Strongest of the G7 |

(CEP News) - Canada has the best performing economy of the G7 and is not likely to slip into recession, said Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney in a media scrum following his testimony to the Standing Committee on Finance at the House of Commons.
He also said monetary policy was forward-looking, and took into account the global economic turmoil, including the slowdown in the United States. Consequently, the Bank of Canada's view is for a slowdown of GDP in the first half of 2008, with momentum picking up in the second half. By Erik Kevin Franco,
