(CEP News) - European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said that the current market turmoil is "unique" in an interview with reporters in Frankfurt after receiving the award for Banker of the Year.
Trichet said "we are still in a turbulent period" and that the ECB must anchor inflation expectations. Trichet also warned that central banks must stay clear of the excessive market volatility, adding that the ECB is working closely with other central banks. Trichet added that the ECB should separate monetary policy from its liquidity operations. By Steve Stecyk,
