(CEP News) - Speaking in an interview with RAI 1 at a meeting in Lake Como, Italy, European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said economic growth in the euro zone should recover in the fourth quarter of 2008.
"We have a trough in the second and third quarter this year and after this trough we will have a progressive increase in growth," said Trichet, echoing comments made at the Governing Council's press conference last Thursday when the central Bank left the main interest rate unchanged at 4.25%. The ECB President went on to reaffirm the central bank's commitment to continue fighting inflation which has soared far above the ECB's 2.0% target in recent months. By Erik Kevin Franco,
