(CEP News) Frankfurt - Euro zone investor morale improved much more than expected in April as market participants grew more optimistic towards the economic outlook, Sentix reported on Monday.
According to the research institute, stronger investor sentiment pushed the Sentix investor confidence indicator to -35.3 in April from March's record low -42.7. Expectations had been for a more mild recovery to -40.7. "The euro region's economy apparently is passing through the trough," Sentix said in its report. Disaggregating the figures, Sentix reported that sentiment regarding the current economic situation rose to a reading of -55.25 from March's -59.75, while the improved outlook boost the expectations component of the indicator to -12.5 in April, up 11 points from the previous month's level. The euro is currently trading up 0.5% on the day at 1.3551 USD. Written by CEP News European Staff,
