(CEP News) Frankfurt - According to data from Eurostat, the euro zone producer price index rose 0.7% in March, well in line with economists' expectations and unchanged from the previous month's increase. March's reading was upwardly revised from 0.6%.
For the euro area countries for which data is available, Luxembourg recorded the highest PPI increase in March with a figure of 1.3%, followed by Greece's rise of 1.1%. Annually, industrial producer prices, excluding construction, rose 5.7%, higher than the 5.6% forecast by economists and the 5.4% rise observed in the previous month. March's figure was revised up from 5.3%. Greece and Belgium saw the largest annual increases in PPI at 10.9% and 9.6% respectively, while Ireland, Finland and Germany saw the smallest increases at 5.0%, 4.7% and 4.2%, in that order.
