(CEP News) Frankfurt - French producer prices continued to weaken in March, according to the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).
In a report issued on Thursday, INSEE noted that French producer prices fell 5.5% in the 12 months to March, down from both the 5.3% decline expected and February's 4.4% slide, which was revised up from -4.5%. The contraction was led by coke and refined petroleum products, the prices for which tumbled 45.5% year-over-year. Food, beverage and tobacco production costs also lost ground, falling 5.5% over the same period. In monthly terms, producer prices slipped 0.4% as expected following February's 0.6% contraction. Once again, coke and refined petroleum product production costs registered the most pronounced declines, falling 3.0% in the month to April. Food, beverage and tobacco costs, meanwhile, fell 0.2% since March. Written by CEP News European Staff,
