(CEP News) - According to the Slovenian Statistics Office on Friday, consumer price inflation declined to 6.0% in August from 6.9% in July.
The consensus was for a decline to 6.8%. In month-over-month terms, CPI fell 0.6% despite forecasts for a 0.3% increase and the previous month's flat reading. Meanwhile, the country's HICP index (harmonized with the euro zone) declined 0.7% on the month and fell to 6.0% on the year. In July, HICP was flat on the month and stood at 6.9% for the year. Leading the decline was a 1.8% month-over-month contraction in transportation costs followed by a 1.7% in food and non-alcoholic beverages. Utilities declined 1.3% while prices on goods fell 1.2%.
