(CEP News) Frankfurt - Swiss inflation surprised to the downside, coming in at 0.7% in the 12 months to December, lower than both the 0.9% rate expected and November's 1.5% print, according to the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.
From November to December, the consumer price index contracted 0.5% as expected following the previous month's 0.7% decline. The core inflation rate also slowed in annualized terms, coming in at 1.3% in December, down 0.1 percentage points from November's print.
