(CEP News) - Measures of the UK's trade activity in February showed a narrowing of the deficit, according to data from the ONS on Thursday.
According to the report, the UK's goods and services trade balance came in at -£3.248 billion, narrowing the deficit by more than the -£3.45 billion reading economists had expected. January's balance of -£7.821 billion was revised to -£3.142 billion. The statistics office also noted that UK trade with non-European Union states came in at -£3.964 billion compared to forecasts for -£5.5 billion. The prior month's -£5.704 billion level was revised to -£5.631 billion. Looking at just the UK's visible trade balance, ONS reported that the goods trade deficit deepened to -£7.315 billion versus expectations for -£7.6 billion.
