(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are mixed and equities closed lower with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 7.3 bps to 6.50% and Japanese 10-year government bonds flat at 1.67%.
Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed down 96.50 points to 4,998.3. The Japanese Nikkei closed down 20.97 points to 13,265.4 and the Hang Seng down 461.67 points to 21,242.78. Yields on three-year Australian bonds were up 1.5 bps to 7.82 and the Australian 90-day September 08 contract was flat at 92.14. The Euroyen September 08 contract was up 1.0 tick to 99.14. The Australian dollar was down 0.06 cents to 0.9613 against the USD and up 0.32 cents to 0.9770 against the Canadian dollar. Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was up 0.50 points to 106.41 and the Canadian dollar was up 0.09 points to 104.69. The euro was unchanged at 1.5879 USD. All data taken at 6 a.m. EDT.
