Asia-Pacific Market Recap: Aussie Bonds Move Lower, Japanese Bonds Higher Print E-mail

(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are mixed and equities closed lower with yields on Australian 10-year bonds up 7.5 bps to 6.57% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 1.5 bps to 1.67%.

Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed down 44.10 points to 5094.8. The Japanese Nikkei closed down 176.83 points to 13286.37 and the Hang Seng down 397.56 points to 21704.45.

Yields on three-year Australian bonds were up 3.9 bps to 7.84 and the Australian 90-day September 08 contract was down 1.0 tick to 92.12.

The Euroyen September 08 contract was down 0.5 tick to 99.13.

The Australian dollar was up 0.43 cents to 0.9594 against the USD and up 0.41 cents to 0.9803 against the Canadian dollar.

Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was up 0.59 points to 106.72 and the Canadian dollar was up 0.62 points to 104.45.

The euro was down 0.10 cents to 1.5779 USD.
