(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are gaining and equities closed mixed with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 8.4 bps to 6.21% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 10.6 bps to 1.56%. The Australian ASX 200 closed up 48.60 points to 5771.797 and the Japanese Nikkei was down 287.92 points to 13655.34. The Australian dollar was down 0.30 cents to 0.9406 against the USD while the greenback was down 69.50 points to 103.05 against the yen.
Yields on three-year Australian bonds were down 6.8 bps to 7.28 and the Australian 90-day September 08 contract was flat at 92.33. The Euroyen September 08 contract was up 0.5 ticks to 99.12. Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed up 48.60 points to 5771.797. The Japanese Nikkei closed down 287.92 points to 13655.34 and the Hang Seng closed down 386.62 points to 25063.17. The Australian dollar was down 0.30 cents to 0.9406 against the USD and down 1.03 cents to 0.9494 against the Canadian dollar. Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was down 69.50 points to 103.05 and the Canadian dollar was up 7.00 points to 102.07. The euro was up 0.60 cents to 1.5458 USD. All data taken at 6:14 a.m. EDT.
