(CEP News) - Asia-Pacific fixed income markets are gaining and equities closed lower with yields on Australian 10-year bonds down 1.4 bps to 6.45% and Japanese 10-year government bonds down 1.9 bps to 1.60%.
Sydney's S&P ASX 200 closed down 21.70 points to 5215.3. The Japanese Nikkei closed down 62.98 points to 13481.38 and the Hang Seng closed up 59.66 points to 22102.01. Yields on three-year Australian bonds were down 1.4 bps to 7.85 and the Australian 90-day September 08 contract was down 3.0 ticks to 92.04. The Euroyen September 08 contract was flat at 99.13. The Australian dollar was up 0.20 cents to 0.9630 against the USD and up 0.19 cents to 0.9732 against the Canadian dollar. Against the yen, the U.S. dollar was down 0.60 points to 105.55 and the Canadian dollar was down 0.52 points to 104.45. The euro was down 0.30 cents to 1.5767 USD. All data taken at 7:34 a.m. EDT.
