EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

EUR/USD rebounded to as high as 1.1485 last week but couldn’t break through 1.1499 resistance and then retreated sharply. Intraday bias is now neutral first. On the upside, break of 1.1485 resistance will revive the case of near term reversal. Intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 1.1621 resistance first. Break will target 1.1814 key resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.1270 will, instead, revive the bearish case that down trend from 1.2555 is still in progress. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.1186 key fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1814 resistance holds, down trend down trend from 1.2555 medium term top is still in progress and should target 61.8% retracement of 1.0339 (2017 low) to 1.2555 at 1.1186 next. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 1.0339. However, break of 1.1814 will confirm completion of such down trend and turn medium term outlook bullish.

In the long term picture, the rejection from 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516 argues that long term down trend from 1.6039 (2008 high) might not be over yet. EUR/USD is also held below decade long trend line resistance. Firm break of 61.8% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1186 should at least bring a retest on 1.0339 low. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.1814 resistance holds.

EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

Despite edging higher to 1.1496, EUR/USD failed to break through 1.1499 resistance again and dipped back into established range. Initial price remains neutral first. The corrective structure from 1.1215 so far suggests that larger decline is not completed yet. And downside breakout is in favor. On the downside, break of 1.1270 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.1215 low. Break will resume down trend from 1.2555 to 1.1186 key fibonacci level. Nevertheless, sustained break of 1.1499 will suggest near term reversal and bring stronger rebound back to 1.1621 resistance first.

EUR/USD’s dropped sharply to 1.2054 last week. The strong break of 1.2154 key support confirmed medium term topping at 1.2555. But as a temporary low as formed at 1.2054, initial bias is neutral this week for some consolidations first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 1.2214 support turned resistance to bring another decline. Below 1.2054 will target 161.8% projection of 1.2475 to 1.2214 from 1.2413 at 1.1991 first. Break will target 200% projection at 1.1891.

In the bigger picture, current decline and firm break of 1.2154 support confirms rejection by 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 (2008 high) to 1.0339 (2017 low) at 1.2516. A medium term top should be in place at 1.2555 and deeper decline would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1708 first. We’ll look at the structure and momentum of such decline before decision if it’s an impulsive or corrective move.

In the long term picture, 1.0339 is seen as an important bottom as the down trend from 1.6039 (2008 high) could have completed. It’s still early to decide whether price action from 1.0339 is developing into a corrective or impulsive pattern. Reaction to 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516 will give important clue to the underlying momentum.

Intraday bias in EUR/USD remains neutral for consolidation below 1.1569 temporary top. As long as 1.1422 minor support holds, another rise remains in favor. Price actions from 1.1215 low is seen as correcting whole decline from 1.2555, if not reversing the down trend. On the upside, above 1.1569 will target 1.1621 resistance first. Break will target 38.2% retracement of 1.2555 to 1.1215 at 1.1727 next. On the downside, break of 1.1422 support will bring retest of 1.1214 low instead.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.1814 resistance holds, down trend down trend from 1.2555 medium term top is still in progress and should target 61.8% retracement of 1.0339 (2017 low) to 1.2555 at 1.1186 next. With 1.1639 minor resistance intact, intraday bias in EUR/USD remains neutral. Current decline from 1.2555 is in progress and should target 50% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1447 first. break will target 61.8% retracement at 1.1186 next. On the upside, above 1.1639 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidation. But near term outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.1822 support turned resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that EUR/USD was rejected by 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 (2008 high) to 1.0339 (2017 low) at 1.2516. And, a medium term top was formed at 1.2555 already. Decline from there should extend further to 61.8% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1186 and below. For now, even in case of rebound, we won’t consider the fall from 1.2555 as finished as long as 1.1995 resistance holds.

Intraday bias in EUR/USD stays neutral at this point, and consolidation from 1.0685 could extend. While stronger recovery might be seen, outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.0944 resistance holds. On the downside, below 1.0685 will resume the fall from 1.1274 to 1.0609/34 cluster support zone next.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.1274 medium term top is seen as a correction to up trend from 0.9534 (2022 low). Strong support could be seen from 1.0634 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 0.9534 to 1.1274 at 1.0609) to bring rebound, at least on first attempt. Break of 1.0944 will indicate the start of the second leg, and target retest of 1.1274. However, sustained break of 1.0609/0634 will raise the chance of bearish trend reversal, and target 61.8% retracement at 1.0199.

EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

EUR/USD’s sharp fall last week suggests that corrective rise from 1.1509 has completed at 1.1851 already. Initial bias stays on the downside for 1.1509 first. Break will resume the whole fall from 1.2555 through 50% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1447 to 61.8% retracement at 1.1186. On the upside, above 1.1659 minor resistance delay the bearish case and bring more consolidation first.

In the long term picture, the rejection from 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516 argues that long term down trend from 1.6039 (2008 high) might not be over yet. EUR/USD is also held below decade long trend line resistance. Focus will now turn to 1.1553 support. Sustained break there would raise the chance of retesting 1.0339 low. It’s early to tell, but the chance of long term bullish reversal is fading.

EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

EUR/USD dropped sharply week and broke 1.0777 support to close at 1.0692. The development suggests larger down trend resumption. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 1.0397 projection target next. On the upside, break of 1.0981 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, whole down trend form 1.2555 (2018 high) should have resumed. Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.2555 to 1.0777 from 1.1496 at 1.0397. EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

EUR/USD rebounded to 1.2445 last week but retreated sharply since then. However, downside is contained above 1.2268 minor support so far. Initial bias stays neutral this week first. On the downside, break of 1.2268 will argue that fall from 1.2555 is likely resuming. And intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2154 support and below. On the upside, above 1.2445will turn bias to the upside for retesting 1.2555 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, key fibonacci level at 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 (2008 high) to 1.0339 (2017 low) at 1.2516 remains intact despite attempts to break. Hence, rise from 1.0339 medium term bottom is still seen as a corrective move for the moment. Rejection from 1.2516 will maintain long term bearish outlook and keep the case for retesting 1.0039 alive. Firm break of 1.1553 support will add more medium term bearishness. However, sustained break of 1.2516 will carry larger bullish implication and target 61.8% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.3862.

Initial bias remains on the downside this week for retesting 1.1111 first. Break will resume larger down trend for 100% projection of 1.1448 to 1.1183 from 1.1324 at 1.1059. Though, on the upside, above 1.1224 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside to extend the consolidation from 1.1111 first.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.2555 (2018 high) is still in progress. Such decline would target 78.6% retracement of 1.0339 (2016 low) to 1.2555 (2018 high) at 1.0813 next. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 1.0339. On the upside, break of 1.1448 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of rebound.

In the long term picture, the rejection from 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516 argues that long term down trend from 1.6039 (2008 high) might not be over yet. Firm break there should confirm rejection by 1.2516 key fibonacci resistance. In that case, whole decline from 1.2555 should target 38.2% retracement of 1.0339 to 1.2555 at 1.1708 next. However, break of 1.2344 will turn bias back to the upside for 1.2475 and above to extend recent range trading.

Fall from 1.2265 is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.2348. On the downside, below 1.1846 will target 1.1703 support next. However, sustained break of the 4 hour 55 EMA will bring stronger rise back to 1.2265 resistance.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.0635 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 1.0339 (2017 low). Further rally could be seen to cluster resistance at 1.2555 next, (38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516). This will remain the favored case as long as 1.1602 support holds. Reaction from 1.2555 should reveal underlying long term momentum in the pair. However sustained break of 1.1602 will argue that the rise from 1.0635 is over, and turn medium term outlook bearish again.

EUR/USD Weekly Outlook

EUR/USD stayed in range of 1.1267/1472 last week. Initial bias remains neutral this week with focus on 1.1267 support.
