GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 153.31; (P) 153.68; (R1) 154.23; More…

GBP/JPY is still bounded in range of 152.35/154.70 and Intraday bias remains neutral first. Further fall is mildly in favor and break of 152.35 will resume the decline from 158.19 to 148.93 key support next. On the upside, however, break of 154.70 will turn bias back to the upside for retesting 158.19 high instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Further rally is still expected as long as 148.93 support holds. However, firm break of 148.93 will argue that the medium term trend has reversed and bring deeper fall back to 142.71 resistance turned support first.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is mildly on the upside with break of 55 4H EMA. Pull back from 200.53 should have completed at 191.34. Rebound from there is seen as the second leg of the corrective pattern. Further rise would be seen back to 197.40 resistance. On the downside, however, break of 192.97 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again first.

In the bigger picture, a medium term top could be in place at 200.53 after breaching 199.80 long term fibonacci level. As long as 55 W EMA (now at 183.34) holds, fall from there is seen as correcting the rise from 178.32 only. However, sustained break of 55 W EMA will argue that larger scale correction is underway and target 178.32 support.

As long as 186.19 minor support holds, GBP/JPY’s rebound from 184.44 is still expected to continue to retest 188.26 high. Decisive break there will resume larger up trend. On the downside though, below 186.19 will extend the pattern from 188.26 with another fall to 184.44, and possibly further to 183.79 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, as long as 180.74 support holds, larger up trend from 123.94 (202 low) should still be in progress, next target is 195.86 (2015 high). However, firm break of 180.74 will now argue that a medium term top is formed, possibly in bearish divergence condition in D MACD, and bring deeper fall back to 178.02 support.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 150.89; (P) 151.31; (R1) 151.63; More…

GBP/JPY’s corrective fall from 153.39 is still in progress and intraday bias remains neutral. As long as 149.74 support holds, outlook remains bullish in the cross. Break of 153.39 will resume the medium term up trend and target 61.8% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 155.32. However, break of 149.74 will dampen our bullish view and turn bias back to the downside for 146.96 key support instead.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term rise from 122.36 is resuming. Sustained trading above 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY rose further to as high as 153.42 last week but retreated ahead of 153.46 resistance. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. We’re favoring that case that corrective fall from 156.05 has completed at 148.43. Break of 153.46 will resume the rise to retest 156.05 high. Though, break of 151.55 minor support will dampen this bullish view, and turn bias to the downside for 148.43 support.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus remains on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, sustained break of 149.03 support, however, will argue that rise from 123.94 has completed. Further break of 142.71 would open up the bearish case for retesting 122.75 low.

In the longer term picture, the strong break of 55 months EMA was an early sign of long term bullish reversal. Firm break of 156.69 resistance should now confirm the start of an up trend for 195.86 (2015 high).

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral at this point. On the upside, decisive break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend. Nevertheless, break of 180.41 will turn bias to the downside, to bring another fall to extend the corrective pattern from 183.99.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue through 183.99 at a later stage, towards 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and outlook is unchanged. On the downside, break of 155.57 will extend the correction towards 150.96 key structural support. Nevertheless, on the upside, firm break of 162.16 will indicate that the correction has completed, and bring retest of 168.40 high next.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 (2016 low) at 167.93 will be a long term bullish signal, and could pave the way back to 195.86 high. This will now remain the favored case as long as 150.95 support holds, even in case of deep pull back. However, firm break of 150.95 will indicate rejection by 167.93, and bearish trend reversal.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY is turned neutral as recovery from 179.45 lost momentum after hitting 55 4H EMA. On the downside, break of 179.45 will resume the correction from 183.90 to 55 D EMA (now at 177.16). On the upside, firm break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend to 187.36 projection level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue. On resumption, next target is 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36, and then 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the downside, firm break of 148.94 will resume larger fall from 158.19 to 145.10 medium term fibonacci level next. For now, outlook will stay bearish as long as 152.60 resistance holds, in case of stronger recovery.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support will retain medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least

GBP/JPY Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 150.65; (P) 151.29; (R1) 151.61; More…

GBP/JPY’s decline accelerates today and intraday bias stays on the downside for 148.43/149.16 key support zone. Decisive break there will resume whole fall from 156.05 to 143.78 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 150.80 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 149.03 support holds, such rise would still resume at a later stage. However, sustained break of 149.03 support will indicate rejection by 156.59. Fall from 156.05 would be at least correcting the whole rise from 123.94. Deeper fall would be seen back 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 156.05 at 143.78 first.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral at this point. On the downside, break of 155.11 resistance should confirm rejection by 158.19 resistance. Intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 152.88 support, to extend the corrective pattern from 158.19 with another falling leg. However, on the upside, sustained break of 158.19 will resume larger up trend.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 158.19 are seen as developing into a consolidation pattern to up trend from 123.94 (2020 low). Downside should be contained by 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10 to bring rebound. Firm break of 158.19 will resume the up trend to long term fibonacci level at 167.93. However, sustained break of 145.10 will raise the chance of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 137.02.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY edged higher to 161.22 last week but failed to break through 162.32 resistance and reversed. Initial bias is now on the downside this week for 155.33 support first. Firm break there will resume whole decline from 172.11 to 153.70 fibonacci level. On the upside, above 158.09 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But outlook will remain bearish as long as 161.22 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 163.02 support turned resistance holds, decline from 172.11 medium term top is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70. Sustained break there will raise the change of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 142.34. Nevertheless, break of 163.02 support turned resistance will argue that the decline has completed, and retain medium term bullishness.

In the longer term picture, as long as 55 month EMA (now at 152.38) holds, rise from 122.75 could still extend higher at a later stage.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 152.80; (P) 153.21; (R1) 153.74; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside. Current rally would target 61.8% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 155.32 first. Break will target 100% projection at 160.49 next. On the downside, break of 151.74 is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, it now looks like GBP/JPY has finally taken out 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.43. Medium term rise from 122.36 should be targeting 61.8% retracement at 167.78. This will now be the favored case as long as 146.96 support remains intact.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for the moment. Correction from 172.11 should have completed with three waves down to 155.33. Further rise should be seen to retest 169.26/172.11 resistance zone. For now, further rally will remain in favor as long as 160.44 minor support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, corrective decline from 172.11 medium term should have completed at 155.33. With 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70 intact, medium term bullishness is retained. That is, larger up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is still in progress. Break of 172.11 high to resume such up trend is expected at a later stage.

No change in GBP/JPY’s outlook despite some loss of upside momentum. Up trend from 123.94 is in progress for 156.69 long term resistance first. Firm break there will carry larger bullish implications. Next target will be 61.8% projection of 133.03 to 153.39 from 149.03 at 161.61. Also, outlook will remain bullish as long as 151.24 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral as consolidation from 153.39 is extending. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 148.50 support to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 153.39 will resume the whole rise from 123.94 to 156.59 long term resistance next. However, firm break of 148.50 will bring deeper correction to channel support (now at 143.16).

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral with focus on 143.72 key support. On the downside, decisive break of 143.72 will indicate near term reversal, after rejection by 149.48 key resistance. In that case, intraday bias will be turned to the downside for 141.00 support first. Meanwhile, rebound from current level will retain bullishness. Decisive break of 149.48 key resistance will carry larger bullish in implications and target 156.58 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, focus is staying on 149.98 key resistance. Decisive break there should confirm that medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) has completed at 131.51 already. Rise from 131.51 is then seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 122.36 (2016 low). GBP/JPY should then target 156.59 and above. However, rejection by 149.98 will retain medium term bearishness and could extend the fall from 156.59 through 131.51 to 122.36.

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 135.17 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 137.78 resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside break of 135.17 will resume the fall from 148.87 and target 131.51 low next.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that GBP/JPY’s medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

In the bigger picture, as long as 188.63 resistance turned support holds, long term up trend is expected to continue. Sustained trading above 200.53 will pave the way to 100% projection of 155.33 to 188.63 from 178.32 at 211.62.

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 133.85 and intraday bias remains neutral. In case of another recovery, upside should be limited by 136.05 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 133.85 will extend the decline from 148.87 to retest 131.51 low. Though, break of 136.05 will indicate short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound to 137.78 resistance.

In the bigger picture, medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low).
