GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2398; (P) 1.2450; (R1) 1.2484; More

Focus is now on 1.2164 support in GBP/USD with today’s fall. Break there will indicate completion of rebound from 1.1409. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for retesting 1.1409 low. On the upside, break of 1.2647 will extend the rebound instead.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is no indication of trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. Next medium term target will be 61.8% projection of 1.7190 to 1.1946 from 1.3514 at 1.0273. In any case, outlook will remain bearish as long as 1.3514 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3286; (P) 1.3322; (R1) 1.3367; More….

With 1.3287 minor support intact, intraday bias remains mildly on the upside for 61.8% retracement of 1.3651 to 1.3026 at 1.3412. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 1.3651 high. Nonetheless, rejection from 1.3412, or break of 1.3278 minor support will revive the case that price actions from 1.3026 are merely correction. And intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.3026 low in that case.

In the bigger picture, as noted before, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Nonetheless, subsequent fall was contained by 55 week EMA (now at 1.3069). Outlook is a bit mixed. For the moment, as long as 1.3835 support turned resistance holds, medium term rise from 1.1946 are viewed as a corrective pattern. That is, we’d expect another leg in the long term down trend through 1.1946 low. However, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3602; (P) 1.3623; (R1) 1.3643; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral first with current recovery. But further fall is expected as long as 1.3722 minor resistance holds. ON the downside, firm break of 1.3570 will resume larger fall from 1.4248 to 1.3482 resistance turned support next. Break there will target 100% projection of 1.4248 to 1.3570 from 1.3982 at 1.3304.

In the bigger picture, current development argues that rise from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248, after failing 1.4376 resistance. Fall from there could either be correcting the rise form 1.1409, or starting another falling leg inside long term sideway pattern. In either case, sustained break of 1.3482 resistance turned support will target 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164 first. Break there will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2573; (P) 1.2626; (R1) 1.2710; More

The breach of 1.2673 suggests that GBP/USD’s rebound from 1.1986 is resuming. Intraday bias is back on the upside for 1.2774 resistance. Still, such rise is seen as the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 1.1946. Hence, we’d expect strong resistance from 1.2774 to limit upside and bring down trend resumption eventually. On the downside, firm break of 1.2411 minor support will argue that it’s completed and turn bias to the downside for 1.1946 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term bottoming yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Overall, break of 1.3444 resistance is needed to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2863; (P) 1.2912; (R1) 1.2959; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD stays neutral as range trading continues inside 1.2845/3082. With 1.2845 support intact, another rise is still mildly in favor. On the upside, above 1.3082 will resume the rebound from 1.2675 for retesting 1.3482 high. On the downside, however, break of 1.2845 will indicate that fall from 1.3482 is not over. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.3482 at 1.2690.

In the bigger picture, focus stays on 1.3514 key resistance. Decisive break there should also come with sustained trading above 55 month EMA (now at 1.3307). That should confirm medium term bottoming at 1.1409. Outlook will be turned bullish for 1.4376 resistance and above. Nevertheless, rejection by 1.3514 will maintain medium term bearishness for another lower below 1.1409 at a later stage.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2448; (P) 1.2501; (R1) 1.2538; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as it’s staying in range of 1.2376/2614. Overall, price actions from 1.1946 are viewed as a consolidation pattern pattern. On the downside, break of 1.2376 will turn bias to the downside for 1.2108 support. Decisive break there will be an early sign of larger down trend resumption. On the upside, break of 1.2614 will extend the rise from 1.2108. But upside should be limited by 1.2705/2774 resistance zone to bring larger down trend resumption eventually.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There is no sign of medium term reversal yet. Sustained trading below 61.8% projection of 2.1161 to 1.3503 from 1.7190 at 1.2457 will target 100% projection at 0.9532. Intraday bias in GBP?USD remains neutral as consolidation from 1.2999 is extending. Outlook remains bearish with 1.3297 resistance intact, and further decline is expected. On the downside, break of 1.2999 low will resume larger down trend from 1.4248. However, firm break of 1.3297 will turn bias back to the upside for stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) has completed at 1.4248. Decline from 1.4248 could still be a corrective move, or it could be the start of a long term down trend. In either case, deeper decline would be seen back to 61.8% retracement of 2.1161 to 1.1409 at 1.2493. In any case, break of 1.3748 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming, or outlook will stay bearish.

GBP/USD’s up trend resumes today by taking out 1.3864 and hits as high as 1.3909 so far. Intraday bias is back on the upside. Current up trend from 1.1409 should target 61.8% projection of 1.1409 to 1.3482 from 1.2675 at 1.3956. Break there will target 1.4376 long tem resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.3774 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will stay bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1409 medium term bottom is in progress. Further rally would be seen to 1.4376 resistance and above. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implication. On the downside, break of 1.2675 support is needed to indicate completion of the rise. Otherwise, outlook will stay cautiously bullish even in case of deep pullback.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3124; (P) 1.3150; (R1) 1.3193; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Consolidation from 1.3026 is still in progress. In case of stronger rise, upside should be limited below 1.3337 resistance to bring fall resumption. Break of 1.3038 will now resume decline from 1.3651 to 1.2773 key support level. However, decisive break of 1.3337 will indicate that pull back from 1.3651 is completed and medium term rise from 1.1946 is resuming.

In the bigger picture, as noted before, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Current development is starting to favor that corrective rebound from 1.1946 low has completed at 1.3651. Decisive break of 1.2773 will confirm this bearish case and target a test on 1.1946 low next, with prospect of resuming the low term down trend. Nonetheless, break of 1.3320 resistance will restore the rise from 1.1946 for 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

While GBP/USD’s recovery from 1.3711 extends, there is no sign of pick up in momentum. The pair is also bounded inside near term falling channel. Such rebound is viewed as a corrective move and intraday bias stays neutral, with mild bearish near term outlook. On the downside, break of 1.3711 will extend the fall from 1.4345 through 1.3651 resistance turned support. We’ll look for strong support from 38.2% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4345 at 1.3429 to contain downside and bring rebound. This will be the preferred case as long as 1.4144 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3038 support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remains bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4259) so far. Break of 1.3038 support, will suggest that rise from 1.1946 has completed and will turn outlook bearish for retesting this low.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3109; (P) 1.3147; (R1) 1.3182; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Further rise will remain in favor as long as 1.2982 support holds. On the upside, break of 1.3185 will resume larger rally to 100% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.3303 next. However, firm break of 1.2982 will suggest short term topping and turn bias to the downside for deeper correction to 1.2813 resistance turned support.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is not enough evidence for trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. However, decisive break of 1.3514 should at least confirm medium term bottoming and turn outlook bullish for 1.4376 resistance first.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2491; (P) 1.2535; (R1) 1.2559; More….

GBP/USD drops to as low as 1.2408 so far today as fall from 1.3381 resumes. Intraday is back on the downside for retesting 1.2391 low. Firm break will resume larger down trend for 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next. On the upside, break of 1.2579 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook remains bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4376 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence, focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2099; (P) 1.2185; (R1) 1.2246; More

GBP/USD’s fall resumed after brief consolidation and intraday bias is back on the downside. Decline from 1.2774 should target a test on 1.1946 low next. As noted before, decisive break there will confirm our bearish view and resume the larger down trend. In any case, outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2432 resistance holds.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s strong rebound last week suggests that pull back from 1.3217 has completed at 1.2773. But as a temporary top was formed at 1.3109, initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, above 1.3109 will target 1.3174/3217 resistance zone. Decisive break there will complete a head and shoulder bottom pattern (ls: 1.2661, h: 1.2391, rs: 1.2773). That would indicate bullish reversal for 61.8% retracement of 1.4376 to 1.2391 at 1.3618 next. On the downside, break of 1.2938 minor support will turn bias back to the downside for 1.2773 instead.

In the bigger picture, focus is back on 1.3174 resistance with current rebound. Sustained break will indicate completion of decline from 1.4376. Rise from 1.2391 would then be seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low). In that case, further rise could be seen through 1.4376 resistance. Nevertheless, rejection by 1.3174 again will extend the decline from 1.4376 through 1.2391 to 1.1946 low.

In the longer term picture, current development argues that corrective pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low) is extending with another rise. But there is no change in the long term bearish outlook as long as 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 at 1.5466 holds. An eventual downside breakout through 1.1946 is still in favor in the long term.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD’s fall from 1.3381 extended to as low as 1.2605 last week but formed a temporary low there and recovered. Initial bias remains neutral this week for some sideway trading first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 1.2865 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 1.2605 will will target a test on 1.2391 low first. Firm break there will resume larger down trend to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is not completed, and is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

In the longer term picture, consolidative pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low) could still extend with another rising leg. But after all, decisive break of 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 at 1.5466 is needed to indicate long term reversal. Otherwise, an eventual downside breakout will remain in favor.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3086; (P) 1.3157; (R1) 1.3200; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for consolidation above 1.3026. On the downside, break of 1.3026 will resume the decline from 1.3651 and target 1.2773 key support level. This will also revive the case of medium term reversal. Meanwhile, on the upside, break of 1.3337 will resume the rebound from 1.3026 to 61.8% retracement of 1.3651 to 1.3026 at 1.3412 and above.

In the bigger picture, while the medium term rebound from 1.1946 was strong, GBP/USD hit strong resistance from the long term falling trend line. Outlook is turned a bit mixed and we’ll stay neutral first. On the downside, decisive break of 1.2773 key support will argue that rebound from 1.1946 has completed. The corrective structure of rise from 1.1946 to 1.3651 will in turn suggest that long term down trend is now completed. Break of 1.1946 low should then be seen. On the upside, break of 1.3835 support turned resistance will revive the case of trend reversal and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

GBP/USD 4 Hours Chart

GBP/USD Daily Chart

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3820; (P) 1.3849; (R1) 1.3870; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as consolidation from 1.3982 is extending. Outlook is unchanged that corrective pattern from 1.4240 could have completed with three waves down to 1.3570. On the upside, break of 1.3982 will resume the rise from 1.3570 to retest 1.4248 high. However, break of 1.3766 support will dampen this bullish view and bring retest of 1.3570.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed. GBP/USD would then be seen in another leg of long term range pattern between 1.1409 and 1.4376. Deeper fall could then be seen to 61.8% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.2493, and even below.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3727; (P) 1.3771; (R1) 1.3805; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral as consolidation from 1.3833 is extending. Further rise is expected with 1.3646 support intact. On the upside, above 1.3833 will target 1.3912 key structural resistance. Firm break there will indicate that the correction from 1.4248 is complete with three waves down to 1.3410. Further rally would then be seen to retest 1.4248 high. However, break of 1.3646 will turn bias to the downside for retesting 1.3410 low.

In the bigger picture, the structure of the fall from 1.4248 suggests that it’s a correction to the up trend from 1.1409 (2020 low) only. While deeper fall cannot be ruled out yet, downside should be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.4248 at 1.3164, at least on first attempt, to bring rebound. On the upside, firm break of 1.4376 key resistance (2018 high) will add to the case of long term bullish reversal. However, sustained trading below 1.3164 will revive some medium term bearishness and target 61.8% retracement at 1.2493.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2817; (P) 1.2857; (R1) 1.2930; More….

GBP/USD’s recovery from 1.2773 extends today but upside is kept below 1.2958 resistance so far. Intraday bias remains neutral and more consolidation might be seen. Further decline is in favor with 1.2958 intact. On the downside, break of 1.2773 will resume the fall from 1.3217 to retest 1.2391 low. On the upside, however, break of 1.2958 resistance will turn bias to the upside for retesting 1.3217 instead.

In the bigger picture, the rejection by 1.3174 key resistance revived the original view on GBP/USD. That is, decline from 1.4376 is possibly resuming long term down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high). Firm break of 1.2391 will solidify this bearish case and target 1.1946 (2016 low). However, decisive break of 1.3174 will invalidate this bearish case again and turn outlook bullish.
