GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2818; (P) 1.2845; (R1) 1.2863; More

GBP/USD is staying in consolidation above 1.2761 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. Further decline is in favor as long as 1.2994 resistance holds. Break of 1.2761 will 38.2% retracement of 1.1801 to 1.3141 at 1.2629. Nevertheless, on the upside, break of 1.2994 resistance will argue that the pull back has completed, and bring retest of 1.3141 high.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.2678 resistance turned support holds, rise from 1.0351 (2022 low) is expected to continue. Next target is 100% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3895. However, sustained break of 1.2678 will argue that it’s at least correcting this rally, with risk of bearish reversal.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2698; (P) 1.2728; (R1) 1.2752; More

GBP/USD recovers further today but stays in range of 1.2588/2813. Intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. With 1.2813 resistance intact, deeper decline is expected. Sustained break of 1.2614 resistance turned support will confirm our bearish view that consolidation pattern from 1.1946 has completed. In that case, deeper fall should be seen back to retest 1.1946 low. However, break of 1.2813 resistance will dampen our view and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3047 and above.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. Price actions from 1.1946 medium term low are seen as a consolidation pattern, which could have completed at 1.3047 after hitting 55 week EMA. Break of 1.1946 low will target 61.8% projection of 1.5016 to 1.1946 from 1.3047 at 1.1150 next. In case the consolidation from 1.1946 extends, outlook will stay remain bearish as long as 1.3444 resistance holds.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3103; (P) 1.3135; (R1) 1.3168; More….

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside. Current rise from 1.1958 is in progress for 1.3381 resistance next. On the downside, below 1.3100 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral again first. But downside of retreat should be contained well above 1.2827 support to bring rise resumption.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is seen as the third leg of consolidation from 1.1946. Further rise would be seen back towards 1.4376 resistance. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds. However, firm break of 1.2582 will turn focus back to 1.1946 low.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3220; (P) 1.3253; (R1) 1.3279; More

GBP/USD’s decline resumed after brief consolidation. Break of 1.3203 low confirms resumption of whole fall from 1.4376. Intraday bias is back on the downside. Sustained break of 50% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4376 at 1.3161 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2875 next. On the upside, break of 1.3471 resistance is now needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that whole medium term rebound from 1.1936 (2016 low) has completed at 1.4376 already, with trend line broken firmly, on bearish divergence condition in daily MACD, after rejection from 55 month EMA (now at 1.4182). 61.8% retracement of 1.1936 (2016 low) to 1.4376 at 1.2874 is the next target. We’ll pay attention to the reaction from there to asses the chance of long term down trend resumption. For now, outlook will stay bearish as long as 55 day EMA (now at 1.3540) holds, even in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3737; (P) 1.3777; (R1) 1.3833; More…..

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside with focus on 1.3835 key resistance. At this point, we’d still expect strong resistance from 1.3835 to limit upside to complete the medium term rally from 1.1946. However, sustained break there will carry larger bullish implication and target long term fibonacci level at 1.5466. On the downside, below 1.3731 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral first. Further break of 1.3457 support should confirm reversal.

In the bigger picture, the break of long term trend line resistance from 1.7190 (2014 high) is seen as a sign of long term reversal. However, rise from 1.1946 (2016 low) is not impulsive looking. And the pair is limited below 1.3835 key resistance. Hence, we won’t turn bullish yet and would continue to monitor the development. On the downside, break of 1.3038 support will now indicate that rebound from 1.1946 has completed and turn outlook bearish. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.3835 should at least send GBP/USD to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466.

For now, further decline is expected in GBP/USD as long as 1.2747 resistance holds. Current fall from 1.3381 would target 1.2391 low first. Firm break there will resume larger down trend to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next. Though, break of 1.2747 resistance will confirm short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound.

In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don’t expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2952; (P) 1.2995; (R1) 1.3075; More

GBP/USD is still staying in tight range below 1.3047 and intraday bias remains neutral. With 1.2844 minor support intact, further rise remains mildly in favor. Nonetheless, as we are still viewing price actions from 1.1946 as a corrective move, we’d expect upside to be limited below 1.3444 resistance to bring near term reversal. On the downside, break of 1.2844 will indicate short term topping and turn bias back to the downside for 1.2614 resistance turned support first.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.7190 is seen as part of the down trend from 2.1161. There are signs of reversal, like breaking of 55 week EMA, weekly MACD turned positive, and monthly MACD crossed above signal line. But still, break of 1.3444 resistance is need to confirm medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remains bearish for extend the down trend through 1.1946 low.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains on the upside for 100% projection of 1.1409 to 1.2647 from 1.2065 at 1.3303. Break there will target 1.3514 structural resistance next. On the downside, break of 1.3005 support is needed to indicate short term topping. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 is strong, there is not enough evidence for trend reversal yet. Down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high) should still resume sooner or later. However, decisive break of 1.3514 should at least confirm medium term bottoming and turn outlook bullish for 1.4376 resistance first.

Range trading continues in GBP/USD and intraday bias remains neutral for the moment. On the upside, break of 1.4008 should reaffirm the bullish case that correction from 1.4240 has completed. Further rise should be seen back to retest 1.4240 high. However, break of 1.3668 will extend the correction from 1.4240 with another falling leg.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3482 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 1.1409 should still continue. Decisive break of 1.4376 resistance will carry larger bullish implications and target 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1409 (2020 low) at 1.5134. However, firm break of 1.3482 support will argue that the rise from 1.1409 has completed and bring deeper fall to 1.2675 support and below.

Intraday bias in GBP/USD is turned neutral as it lost down side momentum as seen in 4 hour MACD. Further decline remains in favor with 1.3035 minor resistance intact. Decisive break of 38.2% retracement of 1.1409 to 1.3482 at 1.2690 will argue that the rise from 1.1409 might be completed, and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.2201. Though, break of 1.3035 will suggest that decline from 1.3482 is merely a corrective move, and turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3482.

In the bigger picture, while the rebound from 1.1409 was strong, it’s limited by both 1.3514 resistance, as well as 55 week EMA (now at 1.3317). The development keeps outlook bearish. Sustained break of 55 week EMA (now at 1.2743) will add to medium term bearishness for a new low below 1.1409 at a later stage, resuming the down trend from 2.1161 (2007 high).

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral at this point. Decline from 1.4345 is in favor to extend. Below 1.3711 will resume the fall from 1.4345 through 1.3651 resistance turned support. We’ll look for strong support from 38.2% retracement of 1.1946 to 1.4345 at 1.3429 to contain downside and bring rebound. This will be the preferred case as long as 1.4144 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, as long as 1.3038 support holds, medium term outlook in GBP/USD will remains bullish. Rise from 1.1946 is at least correcting the long term down from 2007 high at 2.1161. Further rally would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 (2016 low) at 1.5466. However, GBP/USD fails to sustain above 55 month EMA (now at 1.4259) so far.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2396; (P) 1.2432; (R1) 1.2472; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains neutral for the moment. Further rise is expected as long as 1.2352 support holds. On the upside, above 1.2582 will target 1.2759 fibonacci level first. Firm break there will target 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095. However, considering bearish divergence condition in 4H MACD, break of 1.2352 will confirm short term topping, and turn bias back to the downside for deeper pull back.

In the bigger picture, the rise from 1.0351 medium term term bottom (2022 low) is in progress for 61.8% retracement of 1.4248 (2021 high) to 1.0351 at 1.2759. Sustained break there will add to the case of long term bullish trend reversal. Further break of 61.8% projection of 1.0351 to 1.2445 from 1.1801 at 1.3095 could prompt upside acceleration to 100% projection at 1.3895. For now, this will remain the favored case as long as 1.1801 support holds, even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/USD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2121; (P) 1.2226; (R1) 1.2281; More

Intraday bias in GBP/USD remains mildly on the downside at this point. Recovery from 1.2035 should have completed at 1.2336, after hitting falling channel resistance. Deeper decline would be seen to retest 1.2036 low. Decisive break there will resume larger fall from 1.3141. On the upside, above 1.2336 minor resistance will resume the rebound instead.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.3141 medium term top could still be a correction to up trend from 1.0351 (2022 low) only. But risk of complete trend reversal is rising. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.0351 to 1.3141 at 1.2075 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.1417. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 55 D EMA (now at 1.2420) holds, in case of rebound.

GBP/USD Weekly Outlook

GBP/USD recovered to 1.3174 last week but lost momentum since then. Initial bias is neutral this week first. On the upside, above 1.3174 will target 1.3284 resistance first. Break will target a test on 1.3514 high. On the downside, below 1.3034 will bring retest of 38.2% retracement of 1.1958 to 1.3514 at 1.2920.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.1958 medium term bottom is expected to extend higher to retest 1.4376 key resistance. Reactions from there would decide whether it’s in consolidation from 1.1946 (2016 low). Or, firm break of 1.4376 will indicate long term bullish reversal. In any case, for now, outlook will stay bullish as long as 1.2582 resistance turned support holds.

In the longer term picture, it’s still unsure whether long term down trend form 2.1161 (2007 high) has completed at 1.1946 already. Focus is immediately on 55 month EMA (now at 1.3507) and sustained break will be the first serious sign of long term reversal. Further break of trend line resistance (now at 1.4045) will be another signal. Focus would then be turned to 1.4376 key resistance for confirmation.
