USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s down trend resumed last week and accelerated to as low as 1.2772. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 100% projection of 1.3389 to 1.2928 from 1.3172 at 1.2711 next. Break will target 161.8% projection at 1.2426. On the upside, above 1.2868 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another fall.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). Further decline should be seen back to 1.2061 (2017 low). In any case, break of 1.3389 resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of rebound.

In the longer term picture, we’re viewing price actions from 1.4689 as a consolidation pattern. Thus, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is still expected to resume at a later stay. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2061 support holds, which is close to 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.2048.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

Despite some brief recovery, USD/CAD’s decline from 1.3340 extended to as low as 1.3133 last week. Initial bias is back on the downside for 1.3068 key support. Decisive break there will firstly resume whole fall from 1.3664. Secondly, it will be a strong sign of medium term bearish reversal. On the upside, above 1.3242 minor resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 1.3340 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, structure of the medium term rise from 1.2061 (2017 low) to 1.3664 is not clearly impulsive. Hence, we’d stay cautious on strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 and 1.3793 resistance to limit upside, and bring medium term topping. But in any case, medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as channel support (now at 1.3099) holds. Sustained break of 1.3793 will pave the way to retest 1.4689 (2015 high). Firm break of the channel support should confirm reversal target 1.2061 low again.

In the longer term picture, corrective fall from 1.4689 (2015 high) should have completed with three waves down to 1.2061, just ahead of 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048. The development keeps long term up trend from 0.9406 and that from 0.9056 (2007 low) intact. For now, there is still prospect of extending the long term up trend through 1.4689.

USD/CAD Mid-Day Outlook

USD/CAD’s rally resumed by breaking through 1.3664 and intraday bias is back on the upside. Further rise should be seen to retest 1.3976 high next. Decisive break there will resume larger up trend. For now, outlook will remain bullish as long as 1.3554 support holds, in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, outlook stays bullish with 1.3222 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.3976 at 1.3223) intact. Break of 1.3976 resistance will resume larger up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) to 61.8% projection of 1.2401 to 1.3976 from 1.3261 at 1.4234.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3349; (P) 1.3382; (R1) 1.3414; More

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the downside for the moment. Rise from 1.3091 could have completed at 1.3897 already. Sustained trading below 1.3378 support will bring deeper fall to 1.3091 support next. For now, risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.3479 support turned resistance holds, in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, outlook is mixed up by deeper then expected fall from 1.3897. But after all, price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are viewed as a corrective pattern that’s in progress. Larger up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) is still expected to resume at a later stage as long as 1.2947 resistance turned support holds.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3433; (P) 1.3480; (R1) 1.3505; More

Immediate focus is now on 1.3439 in USD/CAD with current decline. Decisive break there will argue that rebound from 1.3176 has completed as a corrective move to 1.3605. Near term outlook will be turned bearish for 1.3357 support first. On the upside, though, break of 1.3524 minor resistance will retain near term bullishness, and turn bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3605 resistance instead.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are viewed as a corrective pattern only. In case of another fall, strong support should emerge above 1.2947 resistance turned support to bring rebound. Overall, larger up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) is still expected to resume through 1.3976 at a later stage.

USD/CAD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2559; (P) 1.2608; (R1) 1.2695; More

USD/CAD’s break of 1.2706 resistance suggests that pull back form 1.2947 has completed. More importantly, with 1.2421 support well defended, rise form 1.2005 is still in progress. Intraday bias is turned back to the upside for retesting 1.2947 first. Break there will target 1.3022 fibonacci level next. On the downside, however, below 1.2492 will resume the fall from 1.2947 to 1.2421 key near term structural support instead.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). It should have completed after hitting 1.2061 (2017 low) and 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.2048. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.2005 at 1.3022 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.3650 and above. Overall, medium term outlook remains neutral at worst with 1.2048/61 support zone intact.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s rally from 1.3091 continued last week and hit as high as 1.3574. Initial bias stays on the upside this week for retesting 1.3653 resistance. Decisive break there will confirm that correction from 1.3976 has completed, a target a test on this high. On the downside, below 1.3495 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another rise.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 are viewed as a corrective fall only. Upon completion, rise from 1.2005 (2021 low) would resume through 1.3976. Next target is 61.8% projection of 1.2005 to 1.3976 from 1.3091 at 1.4309. In case of another fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.3976 at 1.2758.

In the longer term picture, price actions from 1.4689 (2016 high) are seen as a consolidation pattern only, which might have completed at 1.2005. That is, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is expected to resume at a later stage. This will remain the favored case as 55 M EMA (now at 1.3044) holds.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3041; (P) 1.3099; (R1) 1.3139; More

USD/CAD is staying in range of 1.2968/3211 and intraday bias remains neutral. Near term outlook stays mixed. On the upside, break of 1.3387 resistance will confirm that fall from 1.3598 has completed at 1.2968. And more importantly, rise from 1.2460 is still in progress. In that case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 1.3598 and above. On the downside, below 1.2968 will revive the case that rise from 1.2460 is completed and turn outlook bearish for this low. Overall, choppy rise from 1.2460 is still seen as a corrective move.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. The second leg could be completed at 1.3598 and fall from there is tentatively seen as the third leg. Break of 1.2460 will target 50% retracement of 0.9460 to 1.4689 at 1.2075 before completing the correction. In case of another rise, we’d look for reversal signal above 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838.

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains neutral for the moment. Further rise will remains in favor as long as 1.2935 support holds. Break of 1.3222 will target 100% projection of 1.2005 to 1.2947 from 1.2401 at 1.3343. However, firm break of 1.2935 will dampen this bullish case and turn bias to the downside for 1.2818 support.

In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.4667 (2020 high) should have completed at 1.2005, after defending 1.2061 long term cluster support. Rise from there should target 61.8% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.2005 (2021 low) at 1.3650. This will remain the favored case now as long as 1.2516 support holds.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2490; (P) 1.2548; (R1) 1.2579; More

USD/CAD’s fall from 1.2805 accelerates lower and focus is now on 1.2485 resistance turned support. Decisive break there will suggest that rise form 1.2005 might have completed. Deeper fall would be seen to next cluster support at 1.2301 (61.8% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.2805 at 1.2311). For now, risk will stay mildly on the downside as long as 1.2605 resistance holds, in case of recovery.

USD/CAD edged higher to 1.2913 last week but retreated sharply since then. Nevertheless, further rally is still in favor and break of 1.2913 will target 1.3022 fibonacci level next. Decisive break there will carry larger bullish implications. On the downside, break of 1.2712 will argue that rebound from 1.2401 has completed at 1.2913, ahead of 1.2963 resistance. Intraday bias will be back on the downside for 1.2401, to extend recent sideway trading.

In the bigger picture, focus stays on 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 (2020 high) to 1.2005 (2021 low) at 1.3022. Sustained break there should confirm that the down trend from 1.4667 has completed after defending 1.2061 long term cluster support. Further rise would then be seen towards 61.8% retracement at 1.3650. However, rejection by 1.3022 will maintain medium term bearishness. Break of 1.2005 will resume the down trend from 1.4667 and that carries larger bearish implications too.

In the longer term picture, price actions from 1.4689 (2016 high) are seen as a consolidation pattern only. That is, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is still expected to resume at a later stage. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2061 support holds, which is close to 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.2048. However, firm break of 1.2061 support will argue that USD/CAD has already started a long term down trend. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.1424.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD dropped sharply last week but stayed in range of 1.2586/2899. Initial bias is mildly on the downside this week with focus on 1.2586 support. Firm break there will argue that rebound from 1.2448 has completed at 1.2899. Deeper fall would be seen back to 1.2448 support first. On the upside, however, break of 1.2697 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral again.

In the longer term picture, we’re viewing price actions from 1.4689 as a consolidation pattern. Thus, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is still expected to resume at a later stage.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3354; (P) 1.3392; (R1) 1.3443; More….

Intraday bias in USD/CAD is neutral for the moment but overall outlook is unchanged. Corrective fall from 1.3534 is not completed yet. Below 1.3341 will turn bias to the downside to 1.3263 and below. But in that case, we’d expect strong support from 1.3184 cluster level (61.8% retracement of 1.2968 to 1.3534 at 1.3184, 100% projection of 1.3534 to 1.3263 from 1.3455 at 1.3814 too) to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, break of 1.3455 will turn bias back to the upside for 1.3534 resistance.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. The second leg from 1.2460 is likely still in progress and could target 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838. We’d look for reversal signal there to start the third leg. However, break of 1.2968 will argue that the third leg has already started and should at least bring a retest of 1.2460 low. Meanwhile, sustained trading above 1.3838 would pave the way to retest 1.4689 high.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3417; (P) 1.3444; (R1) 1.3489; More

No change in USD/CAD’s outlook as it’s still bounded in consolidation from 1.3521. Intraday bias remains neutral and more sideway trading could be seen. In case of deeper retreat, downside should be contained above 1.3274 support to bring rally resumption. On the upside, firm break of 1.3521 will resume the whole rise from 1.3068 to retest 1.3664 high. However, decisive break of 1.3274 support will indicate completion of rise from 1.3068 and turn outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, USD/CAD is staying well inside medium term rising channel (support at 1.3278). Thus, the up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low) should be in progress. On the upside, decisive break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will pave the way to 78.6% retracement at 1.4127 next. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.3068 support holds. However, sustained break the channel support will be the first sign of medium term reversal. Firm break of 1.3068 would confirm.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/CAD is turned neutral with current retreat. Further rise is expected as long as 1.2491 support holds. Above 1.2743 will resume the rise from 1.2286 to retest 1.2894/2947 resistance zone. However, break of 1.2491 will indicate that such rise has completed, and turn bias back to the downside for 1.2286 support.

In the bigger picture, medium term outlook is neutral for now. The pair drew support from 1.2061 cluster and rebounded. Yet, upside was limited below 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.2005 at 1.3022. On the upside, firm break of 1.3022 should affirm the case of medium term bullish reversal. However, break of 1.2286 will turn focus back to 1.2005 low again.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3649; (P) 1.3684; (R1) 1.3750; More….

USD/CAD’s rebound from 1.3568 resumed by breaking 1.3701 and intraday bias is back on the upside. Retest of 1.3784 resistance should be seen next. Break there will resume larger rise from 1.3091 to retest 1.3976 high. On the downside, however, break of 1.3615 support will bring another falling leg to extend the near term corrective pattern from 1.3784.

In the bigger picture, current development revives the case that corrective pattern from 1.3976 (2022 high) has completed with three waves down to 1.3091. Decisive break of 1.3976 high will confirm resumption of up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low). Next target will be 61.8% projection of 1.2401 to 1.3976 from 1.3091 at 1.4064. This will now remain the favored case as long as 1.3378 support holds.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

USD/CAD is still bounded in range of 1.2501/2646 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 1.2363. But overall outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.2742 resistance holds, and eventual downside breakout is expected. On the downside, break of 1.2501 minor support will bring retest of 1.2363 low first.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). Further decline should be seen back to 1.2061 (2017 low). In any case, break of 1.2994 support turned resistance resistance is needed to indicate medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of strong rebound.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the upside as rebound from 1.2412 short term bottom continues. Such rebound should be corrective whole fall from 1.3793. Further rise would be seen back to 38.2% retracement of 1.3793 to 1.2412 at 1.2940. On the downside, break of 1.2552 minor support will indicate completion of the rebound. In such case, intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 1.2412 low.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. A short term bottom is formed at 1.2412 after hitting 61.8% projection of 1.4689 to 1.2460 from 1.3793 at 1.2415. But there is no sign of completion of the correction yet. Break of 1.2412 will target 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4869 at 1.2048. At this point, we’d look for strong support from there to contain downside and bring rebound. Meanwhile, sustained break of 1.2968, 38.2% retracement of 1.3793 to 1.2412 at 1.2940 will be the first sign of completion of the correction and will turn focus back to 1.3793 key resistance.

On the upside, firm break of 1.2201 resistance will indicate short term bottoming and turn bias to the upside for stronger rebound, to 1.2363 support turned resistance first. However, sustained break of 1.2048/61 will carry larger bearish implications. Next near term target will be 161.8% projection of 1.2880 to 1.2363 from 1.2653 at 1.1816.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). On the upside, though, break of 1.2745 resistance will extend the consolidation pattern from 1.2588 with another rise, towards 1.2880 resistance.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). Further decline should be seen back to 1.2061 (2017 low).
