USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2750; (P) 1.2837; (R1) 1.2892; More….

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the downside with focus on 38.2% retracement of 1.2246 to 1.3124 at 1.2789. Near term trend could have reversed with head and shoulder top pattern (ls: 1.3000; h: 1.3124; rs: 1.2942). Sustained trading below 1.2789 will confirm this case. It will also indicate rejection by 1.3065 fibonacci level. Deeper fall would than be seen back to 1.2246 support next. On the upside, though, break of 1.2942 will indicate support from 1.2789 and turn bias back to the upside for 1.3124.

In the bigger picture, outlooks is turned a bit mixed again. Strong support was seen from 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048. But there was no follow through buying above 38.2% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2061 at 1.3065. Rejection by 1.3065 will argue that price action from 1.2061 is merely a three wave corrective pattern. And 1.2061 will be put back into focus with medium term bearishness revived.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2863; (P) 1.2905; (R1) 1.2982; More….

At this point, USD/CAD is holding above 1.2802 cluster support zone (38.2% retracement of 1.2246 to 1.3124 at 1.2789). Intraday bias remains neutral and bullish outlook is unchanged. That is, further rally is expected. On the upside, break of 1.3124 will extend recent rally to 161.8% projection of 1.2061 to 1.2916 from 1.2246 at 1.3629 next. However, firm break of 1.2789/2802 will raise the chance of rejection by 1.3065 medium term fibonacci level and bring deeper fall to 55 day EMA (now at 1.2741).

In the bigger picture, we’re favoring the medium term bullish case. That is larger down trend from 1.4689 has completed at 1.2061 as a correction, drawing support from 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048. Sustained break of 38.2% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2061 at 1.3065 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.3685. This will be the preferred case now as long as 1.2802 support holds. However, rejection by 1.3065 will argue that price action from 1.2061 is merely a three wave corrective pattern. And 1.2061 will be put back into focus with medium term bearishness revived.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3554; (P) 1.3569; (R1) 1.3581; More

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains neutral as range trading continues. On the upside, decisive break of 1.3612 resistance will resume whole rise from 1.3176 towards 1.3897 resistance. On the downside, firm break of 1.3419 support will argue that rebound from 1.3176 has completed. Near term outlook will be turned bearish for 1.3357 support first.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are viewed as a corrective pattern only. In case of another fall, strong support should emerge above 1.2947 resistance turned support to bring rebound. Overall, larger up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low) is still expected to resume through 1.3976 at a later stage.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3165; (P) 1.3264; (R1) 1.3314; More

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the downside for 1.3180 low. Fall from 1.3664 is possibly resuming. Break of 1.3180 will confirm this bearish case and target 61.8% projection of 1.3664 to 1.3180 from 1.3375 at 1.3076 next. In case of recovery, risk will remains on the downside as long as 1.3375 resistance holds.

In the bigger picture, structure of the medium term rise from 1.2061 (2017 low) is not clearly impulsive so far. Hence, we’d stay cautious on strong resistance from 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 and 1.3793 resistance to limit upside, and bring medium term topping. But in any case, medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as channel support (now at 1.3036) holds. Sustained break of 1.3793 will pave the way to retest 1.4689 (2015 high).

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s sharp decline last week suggests that choppy rise from 1.3068 has completed at 1.3564 already. Initial bias remains on the downside for 1.3052/68 cluster support. On the upside, break of 1.3363 support turned resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, the strong break of medium term channel support now argues that up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low) has completed at 1.3664 (2018 high), just ahead of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685, and 1.3793 resistance. Decisive break of 1.3068 cluster support (38.2% retracement of 1.2061 to 1.3664 at 1.3052) will confirm and pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2673 next. For now, risk will remain on the downside as long as 1.3564 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

In the longer term picture, outlook remains unchanged that price actions from 1.4689 (2016 high) are forming a corrective pattern. Rejection by 1.3793 resistance would raise the chance of lengthier extension, with risk of dropping through 1.2061 low before completion.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD edged lower to 1.3315 last week but rebounded strongly from there. A short term bottom should be formed and initial bias is mildly on the upside this week. Current rebound would target 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.3315 at 1.3831 first. Firm break there will target 61.8% retracement at 1.4151. On the downside, break of 1.3315 is now needed to confirm resumption of fall from 1.4667. Otherwise, risk will stay mildly on the upside in case of retreat.

In the bigger picture, the rise from 1.2061 (2017 low) could have completed at 1.4667 after failing 1.4689 (2016 high). Fall from 1.4667 could be the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689. Deeper fall is expected to 61.8% retracement at 1.3056 and possibly below. This will now remain the favored case as long as 1.3855 support turned resistance holds. However, sustained break of 1.3855 will turn focus back to 1.4689 key resistance.

In the longer term picture, the bullish case of resuming the up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is delayed. Consolidation from 1.4689 is extending for another medium term fall. As long as 1.2061 support holds, such up trend should still resume through 1.4689 at a later stage.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD stayed in range of 1.2728/2996 last week without any progress. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. At this point, we’re viewing price actions from 1.3124 as a corrective move that could be completed at 1.2526 already. Above 1.2966 will turn bias to the upside and target 1.3124 key resistance next. However, break of 1.2728 will dampen this bullish view and bring deeper fall back to 1.2526 and possibly below.

In the bigger picture, we’re favoring the case that that rebound from 1.2061 has not completed yet. Focus is back on 38.2% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2061 at 1.3065. Sustained trading above there will confirm medium term bullish reversal. That is, down trend from 1.4689 has completed at 1.2061 already. In that case, next target will be 61.8% retracement at 1.3685. However, break of 1.2526 support will dampen this bullish view again. And, focus will be back on 1.2061 key support level, which is close to 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048

In the longer term picture, 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048 remains a key support level to watch. As long as this level holds, we’ll treat fall from 1.4689 as a correction and expect another rally through this level. However, sustained break of 1.2048 will turn favors to the case that rise from 0.9056 (2007 low) is a three wave corrective move that’s completed at 1.4689. And retest of 0.9056/9406 support zone could be seen in medium to long term.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3473; (P) 1.3540; (R1) 1.3586; More

USD/CAD’s fall from 1.3897 resumed by breaking through 1.3479 support. Intraday bias is back on the downside for 1.3378 support zone. Strong support is expected there to bring rebound. But still, break of 1.3617 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, risk will stay on the downside in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, rise from 1.3091 is seen as the fifth leg of the whole rise from 1.2005 (2021 low). Further rally is expected as long as 1.3378 support holds, to 61.8% projection of 1.2401 to 1.3976 from 1.3091 at 1.4064. However, decisive break of 1.3378 will dampen this view and bring deeper fall back to 1.3091 instead.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD dropped sharply to as low as 1.2450 last week and there is no sign of bottoming yet. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 1.2421 key structural support. Sustained break there will argue that whole choppy rise from 1.2005 has completed. Deeper fall could then be seen back to retest 1.2005 low. On the upside, though, break of 1.2592 support turned resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 1.2773 resistance first.

In the bigger picture, the failure to sustain above 55 week EMA (now at 1.2684) revives some medium term bearishness in USD/CAD. Still as long as 1.2005 support holds, we’d expect another rise ahead, to 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.2005 at 1.3022. Sustained break there will indicate larger bullish reversal. However, firm break of 1.2005 will resume the down trend from 1.4667 (2020 high) .

In the longer term picture, we’re viewing price actions from 1.4689 as a consolidation pattern. Thus, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is still expected to resume at a later stage. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.2061 support holds, which is close to 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.2048. However, rejection by 55 month EMA, follow by firm break of 1.2061 support, will argue that USD/CAD has already started a long term down trend.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3092; (P) 1.3119; (R1) 1.3139; More

USD/CAD’s recovery is limited below 1.3159 minor resistance so far and intraday bias stays neutral. For now, we continue to expect strong around 1.3067 resistance turned support to complete the correction from 1.3385 to bring rebound. On the upside, above 1.3159 minor resistance will flip bias back to the upside for retesting 1.3385. However, firm break of 1.3067 will bring deeper fall to channel support (now at 1.2838).

In the bigger picture, as long as channel support (now at 1.2838) holds, we’ll holding to the bullish view. That is, fall from 1.4689 (2015 high) has completed at 1.2061, ahead of 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048. Further rally should be seen for 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2061 at 1.3685 and above. However, sustained break of the channel support will argue that rise from 1.2061 has completed and will bring deeper fall to 1.2526 support to confirm.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3171; (P) 1.3205; (R1) 1.3233; More….

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the downside at this point. Fall from 1.3976 is developing at least a a deeper correction. Further fall should be seen to 100% projection of 1.3860 to 1.3299 from 1.3653 at 1.3092 next. On the upside, above 1.3353 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first, before staging another decline.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3976 are still viewed as a correction to up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low), but chance of trend reversal is increasing with current decline. But in either case, sustained trading below 38.2% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.3976 at 1.3233 will pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 1.2758. Risk will stay on the downside as long as 1.3653 resistance holds, even in case of strong rebound.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3236; (P) 1.3252; (R1) 1.3269; More….

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains on the downside at this point. Corrective fall from 1.3327 is in progress for 55 day EMA (now at 1.3182). But downside should be contained above 1.3104 resistance turned support to bring rise resumption. On the upside, sustained break of 1.3327 should confirm completion of consolidation pattern from 1.3664. Further rise should be seen to retest 1.3664 high.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.3664 (2018 high) is seen as a corrective move that has probably completed. Rise from 1.2061 (2017 low) might be ready to resume. Decisive break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will pave the way to retest 1.4689 high. However, break of 1.3104 resistance turned support will extend the corrective with another fall through 1.2951 before completion.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.2274; (P) 1.2313; (R1) 1.2374; More….

Intraday bias in USD/CAD remains neutral as consolidation from 1.2061 is still in progress. At this point, we’d remain cautious on strong support from 1.2048 to bring sustainable rebound. But still, break of 1.2439 support turned resistance is needed to be the first sign of trend reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish. Firm break of 1.2048 will pave the way to next fibonacci level at 1.1424. Break of 1.2412 will bring stronger rise back to 55 day EMA (now at 1.2531) and above.

In the bigger picture, focus remains on 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4869 at 1.2048. As long as this level holds, we’d still favor that case that fall from 1.4689 is a correction. Rebound from 1.2048 could extend the larger up trend from 0.9406. However, firm break of 1.2048 will indicate that fall from 1.4689 is at least a medium term down trend and should target 61.8% retracement at 1.1424 and below.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3385; (P) 1.3414; (R1) 1.3433; More

USD/CAD is staying in consolidation from 1.3521 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Such consolidation could extend with deeper fall. But downside should be contained above 1.3274 support to bring rally resumption. On the upside, firm break of 1.3521 will resume the whole rise from 1.3068 to retest 1.3664 high. However, decisive break of 1.3274 support will indicate completion of rise from 1.3068 and turn outlook bearish.

In the bigger picture, USD/CAD is staying well inside medium term rising channel (support at 1.3296). Thus, the up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low) should be in progress. On the upside, decisive break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will pave the way to 78.6% retracement at 1.4127 next. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.3068 support holds. However, sustained break the channel support will be the first sign of medium term reversal. Firm break of 1.3068 would confirm.

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s recovered further to 1.3259 last week but lost momentum well ahead of 55 day EMA and retreated. Initial bias is neutral this week first, and further rise is mildly in favor as long as 1.3086 minor support holds. On the upside, break of 1.3259 will target 38.2% retracement of 1.4667 to 1.2994 at 1.3633, to correct the whole fall from 1.4667. Nevertheless, on the downside, break of 1.3086 will bring retest of 1.2994 low.

In the bigger picture, fall from 1.4667 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 (2016 high). Sustained break of 61.8% retracement of 1.2061 to 1.4667 at 1.3056 will target a test on 1.2061 (2017 low). But we’d expect loss of downside momentum as it approaches this key support. On the upside, though, break of 1.3715 resistance is needed to confirm completion of the fall. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish.

In the longer term picture, the bullish case of resuming the up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is delayed. Consolidation from 1.4689 is extending for another medium term fall. As long as 1.2061 support holds, such up trend should still resume through 1.4689 at a later stage.

USD/CAD Mid-Day Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3100; (P) 1.3196; (R1) 1.3275; More

USD/CAD reaches as low as 1.3134 so far today and decline from 1.3598 extends. The break of 1.3080 completes a double top pattern (1.3588, 1.3598) and indicates reversal. This also supports our view that corrective rise from 1.2460 has completed. Fall from 1.3598 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 1.4689 and should target 1.2460 low next. On the upside, break of 1.3293 is needed to confirm completion of the fall from 1.3598. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. The second leg is like finished at 1.3598 too after hitting 50% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3575. Break of 1.3080 would now likely resume the fall from 1.4689 through 1.2460 to 50% retracement of 0.9406 to 1.4689 at 1.2048. We’d start to look for reversal signal below 1.2460 to complete the correction. In case of another rise, we’ll look for topping sign at 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3114; (P) 1.3147; (R1) 1.3211; More

USD/CAD recovers notably today but stays in range of 1.2968/3211. Intraday bias remains neutral first. On the upside, break of 1.3211 resistance will argue that fall from 1.3598 has completed at 1.2968. And more importantly, rise from 1.2460 is still in progress. In that case, intraday bias will be turned back to the upside for 1.3598 and above. On the downside, below 1.2968 will revive the case that rise from 1.2460 is completed and turn outlook bearish for this low. Overall, choppy rise from 1.2460 is still seen as a corrective move.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 1.4689 medium term top are seen as a correction pattern. The first leg has completed at 1.2460. The second leg could be completed at 1.3598 and fall from there is tentatively seen as the third leg. Break of 1.2460 will target 50% retracement of 0.9460 to 1.4689 at 1.2075 before completing the correction. In case of another rise, we’d look for reversal signal above 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 to 1.2460 at 1.3838.

USD/CAD 4 Hours Chart

USD/CAD Daily Chart

USD/CAD Weekly Outlook

USD/CAD’s late rebound last week suggests that pull back from 1.3693 has completed at 1.3378. Initial bias is back on the upside for retesting 1.3693 high next. Strong resistance could be seen there to limit upside on first attempt. On the downside, below 1.3415 support will resume the fall from 1.3693 through 1.3378 to 61.8% retracement of 1.3091 to 1.3693 at 1.3321.

In the bigger picture, no change in the view that price actions from 1.3976 (2022 high) are a corrective pattern to up trend from 1.2005 (2021 low). The question is whether it has completed with three waves down to 1.3091, or still extending. But even in case of extension, downside should be contained by 50% retracement of 1.2005 to 1.3796 at 1.2991. Meanwhile, firm break of 1.3693 should validate the former case, and target 1.3976 and above.

In the longer term picture, price actions from 1.4689 (2016 high) are seen as a consolidation pattern only, which might have completed at 1.2005. That is, up trend from 0.9506 (2007 low) is expected to resume at a later stage. This will remain the favored case as 55 M EMA (now at 1.3082) holds.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3154; (P) 1.3174; (R1) 1.3203; More

USD/CAD is staying in consolidation from 1.3208 and intraday bias remains neutral first. Downside of retreat should be contained well above 1.3042 to bring another rise. On the upside, break of 1.3042 will target 1.3347 resistance next.

In the bigger picture, 38.2% retracement of 1.2061 to 1.3664 at 1.3052 remains intact. Medium term rise from 1.2061 low is in favor to resume sooner or later. Firm break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will confirm and target 1.4689 high. However, sustained break of 1.3052 will confirm completion of up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low). Further fall should be seen to 61.8% retracement at 1.2673 next.

USD/CAD Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 1.3010; (P) 1.3046; (R1) 1.3077; More

USD/CAD formed a temporary after hitting 1.3081 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Further rally is expected as long as 1.2971 minor support holds. For now, 1.2879 key fibonacci level remains intact and thus, larger rise from 1.2061 is expected to resume after consolidation from 1.3385 completes. Break of 1.3081 will target 1.3225 resistance structure resistance next. On the downside, however, break of 1.2971 minor support will turn focus back on 1.2879 fibonacci level.

In the bigger picture, focus is back on 38.2% retracement of 1.2061 to 1.3385 at 1.2879 key fibonacci level. As long as it holds, rise from 2017 low at 1.2061 is still in progress. Break of 1.3384 should target 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2015 high) to 1.2061 (2017 low) at 1.3685. However, sustained break of 1.2879 will dampen his bullish view and turn focus back to 61.8% retracement at 1.2567, which is close to 1.2526 support.
