GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 150.14; (P) 150.71; (R1) 151.21; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral for consolidation below 152.82 short term top. Deeper fall could be seen but downside should be contained above 146.57 support to bring another rally. Break of 152.82 will extend the larger rise from 122.36 to 61.8% projection of 122.36 to 148.42 from 139.29 at 155.39 next.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 122.36 is in progress. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. For now, the bullish scenario is preferred as long as 139.29 support holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside for retesting 152.52 high. Break there will resume whole up trend from 123.94. Next target is 156.59 long term resistance. In case the consolidation extends with another fall, we’d continue to expect strong support from 148.09 cluster support ( 23.6% retracement of 133.03 to 152.52 at 147.92) to contain downside and bring rebound.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Next target is 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. On the downside, break of 142.71 resistance turned support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Outlook in GBP/JPY remains unchanged and intraday bias stays neutral. On the downside, break of 155.33 will resume the fall from 172.11 to 153.70 fibonacci level. Nevertheless, considering bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD, firm break of 162.32 will argue that such decline has completed, and turn bias back to the upside for 55 day EMA (now at 163.35) and above.

In the bigger picture, as long as 153.02 support turned resistance holds, decline from 172.11 medium term top is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 172.11 at 153.70. Sustained break there will raise the change of trend reversal and target 61.8% retracement at 142.34. Nevertheless, break of 153.02 support turned resistance will argue that the decline has completed, and retain medium term bullishness.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 139.44; (P) 139.85; (R1) 140.26; More…

GBP/JPY is staying in consolidation from 141.50 and intraday bias remains neutral at this point. Deeper fall cannot be ruled out. But downside should be contained above 135.74 resistance turned support to bring rebound. On the upside, break of 141.50 will resume the rise from 126.54 to for 148.87 key resistance.

In the bigger picture, consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low) is still in progress with rise from 126.54 as the third leg. Further rise should be seen back to 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. For now, we’d expect strong resistance from there to limit upside. And, this will remain the favored case as long as 135.74 resistance turned support holds.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral and sideway range trading continues. As long as 137.83 resistance holds, further decline is in favor. Below 134.40 will target 133.03 support first. Break there will resume larger fall from 142.71 to 61.8% retracement of 123.94 to 142.71 at 131.11.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen only as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. Focus will then be turned to 156.59 resistance for confirmation.

GBP/JPY is staying in range of 138.53/142.79 and intraday bias is turned neutral first. Break of 138.53 will extend the fall to 136.44. Overall, price actions from 148.42 are seen as a corrective pattern. Strong support could be seen at 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to bring rebound. Above 142.79 will turn bias back to the upside.

In the bigger picture, price actions from 122.36 medium term bottom are still seen as a corrective pattern. Main focus is on 38.2% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. Rejection from there will turn the cross into medium term sideway pattern with a test on 122.36 low next. Though, sustained break of 150.42 will extend the rebound towards 61.8% retracement at 167.78.

With 153.66 support intact, further rally is expected in GBP/JPY. Next target is 100% projection of 139.29 to 152.82 from 146.96 at 160.49. However, break of 1.5366 will indicate short term topping and turn bias back to the downside for 150.18 support.

In the bigger picture, as long as 146.96 key support holds, medium term outlook remains bullish. Rise from 122.36 is in favor to extend to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.36 at 167.78. However, break of 146.96 support will indicate trend reversal. And there would be prospect of retesting 122.36 in that case.

The strong break of 153.81 support indicates that GBP/JPY is now correcting the rise from 136.96 to 156.05. Intraday bias is now on the downside. Deeper decline would be seen to 38.2% retracement of 136.96 to 156.05 at 148.75. We’d expect strong support from there to bring rebound. On the upside, above 153.75 minor resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). Focus is now on 156.59 resistance (2018 high). Sustained break there should confirm long term bullish trend reversal. Next target is 61.8% retracement of 195.86 (2015 high) to 122.75 at 167.93. On the downside, break of 149.03 support is needed to be the first sign of completion of the rise from 123.94. Otherwise, outlook will remain bullish even in case of deep pull back.

Range trading continues in GBP/JPY above 179.45 and intraday bias remains neutral first. On the downside, break of 179.45 will resume the correction from 183.90 to 55 D EMA (now at 177.39). On the upside, firm break of 183.99 high will resume larger up trend to 187.36 projection level.

In the bigger picture, as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is expected to continue. On resumption, next target is 138.2% projection of 148.93 to 172.11 from 155.33 at 187.36, and then 195.86 (2015 high). Nevertheless, firm break of 172.11 will argue that larger correction is already underway.

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains neutral at this point. On the upside, break of 140.70 resistance will resume the choppy rebound from 133.03. Intraday bias will be turned to the upside for retesting 142.71 high. On the downside, break of 137.90 will revive the case that corrective rise from 133.03 has completed. Intraday bias will be turned back to the downside for 134.40 support.

In the bigger picture, rise from 123.94 is seen as a rising leg of the sideway consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low). As long as 147.95 resistance holds, an eventual downside breakout remains in favor. However, firm break of 147.95 will raise the chance of long term bullish reversal. GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 155.86; (P) 156.64; (R1) 157.91; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the upside. As noted before, correction from 158.19 should have completed with three waves down to 148.94, after defending 148.93 key support. Further rally should be seen back to retest 158.19. Firm break there will resume larger up trend to 167.93 long term fibonacci level. On the downside, below 154.86 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations first.

In the bigger picture, strong rebound from 148.93 key structural support will retain medium term bullishness. Firm break of 158.19 high will resume whole up trend from 123.94 (2020 low), to 61.8% retracement of 195.86 to 122.75 at 167.93. Nevertheless, firm break of 148.93 will bring deeper correction to 38.2% retracement of 123.94 to 158.19 at 145.10, and possibly further lower, as a correction to up trend from 123.94 at least

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 148.61; (P) 149.46; (R1) 150.54; More

At this point, intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains mildly on the downside for 146.92 support and below. Fall from 151.92 is seen as the third leg of the corrective pattern from 152.82. We’d expect strong support from 61.8% retracement of 139.29 to 152.82 at 144.45 to contain downside and bring rebound. On the upside, break of 149.98 resistance will turn bias back to the upside for 151.92/152.82 resistance zone instead.

In the bigger picture, medium term rebound from 122.36 is still expected to resume after corrective pull back from 152.82 completes. Firm break of 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43 will carry long term bullish implications. In that case, GBP/JPY could target 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, break of 139.29 will indicate rejection from 150.43 key fibonacci level. And the three wave corrective structure of rebound from 122.36 will argue that larger down trend is resuming for a new low below 122.26.

With 143.86 minor resistance intact, further decline is mildly in favor in GBP/JPY. Fall from 147.95 is correcting whole rally from 126.54, and should target 38.2% retracement of 126.54 to 147.95 at 139.77. On the upside, above 143.86 minor resistance will turn bias to the upside for retesting 147.95 high instead.

In the bigger picture, rise from 126.54 could either be the third leg of the consolidation pattern from 122.75 (2016 low), or the start of a new up trend. In either case, further rally is expected as long as 139.31 support holds, into 148.87/156.59 resistance zone. Reaction from there should reveal which case it should be in. Rejection from there will extend long term range trading. Decisive break of 156.69 will carry long term bullish implications.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 128.52; (P) 129.88; (R1) 131.14; More…

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY remains on the downside at this point. Current fall form 147.95 should target a test on 126.54 low. On the upside, break of 134.31 resistance is needed to indicate short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.

In the bigger picture, current development suggests that price actions from 122.75 (2016 low) are merely a sideway consolidation pattern. Larger down trend from 195.86 (2015 high) is not completed yet. Break of 126.54 should indicate that such down trend is resuming through 122.75 low.

GBP/JPY Weekly Outlook

GBP/JPY’s up trend continued last week and there is no sign of topping yet. Initial bias remains on the upside this week for 61.8% projection of 178.71 to 188.90 from 185.21 at 191.50. Firm break there will target 100% projection at 195.40. On the downside, below 189.83 minor support will turn intraday bias neutral and bring consolidations, before staging another rally.

In the bigger picture, up trend from 123.94 (2020 low) is in progress. Medium term outlook will stay bullish as long as 178.32 support holds. Next target is 195.86 long term resistance (2015 high).

In the longer term picture, rise from 122.75 (2016 low) is seen as the third leg of the pattern from 116.83 (2011 low). Further rally will remain in favor as long as 172.11 resistance turned support holds. Break of 195.86 (2015 high) is possible. But strong resistance could be seen from 61.8% retracement of 251.09 (2007 high) to 116.83 at 199.80 to limit upside, at least on first attempt.

With 4 hours MACD crossed above signal line again, intraday bias is turned neutral again. As this point, we’ll continue to look for bottoming signal around 61.8% retracement of 135.58 to 148.09 at 140.35 to bring rebound. Break of 143.93 will indicate near term reversal and turn bias back to the upside. However, sustained break of 140.35 will bring deeper fall to 135.58 key support level.

In the bigger picture, rise from 122.36 medium term bottom is still expected to extend to of 195.86 to 122.36 at 150.42. And decisive break there could pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. However, as the cross is starting to lose upside momentum, rejection below 150.42 and break of 135.58 support will indicate reversal and bring deeper fall back to retest 122.36 instead.

GBP/JPY staying in consolidation from 133.85 temporary low. Intraday bias remains neutral first. Outlook stays bearish with 136.05 resistance intact. On the downside, break of 133.85 will extend the decline from 148.87 to retest 131.51 low. Though, break of 136.05 will indicate short term bottoming and bring stronger rebound to 137.78 resistance.

In the bigger picture, medium term fall from 156.59 (2018 high) is still in progress. Break of 131.51 will target 122.36 (2016 low). Structure of such decline is corrective looking so far, arguing that it’s just the second leg of consolidation from 122.36. Thus, we’d expect strong support from 122.36 to contain downside to bring reversal.

GBP/JPY Daily Outlook

Daily Pivots: (S1) 146.63; (P) 147.11; (R1) 147.48; More

Intraday bias in GBP/JPY stays neutral with mixed near term outlook. On the upside break of 147.76 will resume rise from 138.65. And firm break of 148.42 key resistance will also resume the whole rally from 122.36 to long term fibonacci level at 150.43 and above. Meanwhile, on the downside, break of 145.25 will revive the case of rejection from 148.09/42 resistance zone. Intraday bias would then be turned back to the downside for 55 day EMA (now at 143.72) and below.

In the bigger picture, rise from medium term bottom at 122.36 is expected to continue to 38.2% retracement of 196.85 to 122.36 at 150.43. Decisive break there will carry long term bullish implications and pave the way to 61.8% retracement at 167.78. In case the sideway pattern from 148.42 extends, we’d be looking for strong support from 135.58 and 50% retracement of 122.36 to 148.42 at 135.39 to contain downside.
