Germany Gfk consumer confidence edged up to -1.6, economic expectations surged

Germany Gfk Consumer Confidence for October rose slightly to -1.6, up from -1.7. Economic expectations jumped sharply from 11.7 to 24.1 in September. Income expectations also improved from 12.8 to 16.1.

“Despite rising infection figures and the increasing fear of tighter restrictions caused by the pandemic, the consumer climate has stabilized. The extensive support packages for business and consumers are clearly suitable measures to help Germany emerge from the worst recession since the war,” Rolf Bürkl, GfK consumer expert, explained.
