CFTC Commitments of Traders – Traders Remained Bullish in Crude Oil Although Price is at 6-Week High

According to the CFTC Commitments of Traders report for the week ended November 5, NET LENGTH for crude oil futures soared +22 793 contracts to 406 140 for the week. Speculative long positions rose +12 784 contracts while shorts slumped -10 009 contracts. For refined oil products, NET LENGTH for gasoline dropped -1 040 contracts to 80 002, while NET SHORT for heating oil added +407 contracts to 257 for the week. NET SHORT for natural gas futures slumped -49 510 contracts to 136 137 contracts for the week.

NET LENGTH for gold futures gained +3 313 contracts to 279 828. Speculative long positions gained +9 168 contracts, while shorts rose 5 855. Silver futures saw decrease in NET LENGTH, by -5 681 contracts to 47 997. Speculative long positions added +1 806 contracts while shorts rose +7 487. For PGMs, NET LENGTH of Nymex platinum futures gained +3 398 contracts to 45 695 while that for palladium slipped -968 contracts to 12 290.
