EUR/USD Weekly Outlook
EUR/USD stayed in consolidation from 1.1111 last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. In case of another rise, upside should be should be limited by 1.1263 resistance to bring down trend resumption. On the downside, firm break of 1.1107 will target 100% projection of 1.1448 to 1.1183 from 1.1324 at 1.1059. However, sustained break of 1.1263 resistance will now be an early sign of trend reversal and turn bias to the upside for 1.1448 key resistance.
In the bigger picture, down trend from 1.2555 (2018 high) is still in progress. Such decline would target 78.6% retracement of 1.0339 (2016 low) to 1.2555 (2018 high) at 1.0813 next. Sustained break there will pave the way to retest 1.0339. On the upside, break of 1.1448 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will stay bearish in case of rebound.
In the long term picture, the rejection from 38.2% retracement of 1.6039 to 1.0339 at 1.2516 argues that long term down trend from 1.6039 (2008 high) might not be over yet. EUR/USD is also held below decade long trend line resistance, 55 month and 55 week EMA. Break of 1.0339 will resume the down trend to 100% projection of 1.3993 to 1.0339 from 1.2555 at 0.9501
USD/JPY Weekly Outlook
USD/JPY's decline from 112.40 resumed last week by dropping through 109.02 support and hit as low as 108.27. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for 61.8% retracement of 104.69 to 112.40 at 107.63. Sustained break there will pave the way back to 104.62/9 key support zone. On the upside, break of 109.15 support turned resistance is needed to be the first sign of short term bottoming. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of recovery.
In the bigger picture, decline from 118.65 (Dec 2016) is still in progress, with the pair staying indicate long term falling channel. Break of 104.62 will target 100% projection of 118.65 to 104.62 from 114.54 at 100.51. For now, we'd expect strong support above 98.97 (2016 low) to contain downside to bring rebound.
In the long term picture, the rise from 75.56 (2011 low) long term bottom to 125.85 (2015 high) is viewed as an impulsive move, no change in this view. Price actions from 125.85 are seen as a corrective move which could still extend. In case of deeper fall, downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 75.56 to 125.85 at 94.77. Up trend from 75.56 is expected to resume at a later stage for above 135.20/147.68 resistance zone.
GBP/USD Weekly Outlook
GBP/USD's fall continued last week and reached as low as 1.2550. Downside momentum is seen diminishing with bullish convergence condition in 4 hour MACD. But break of 1.2747 resistance is needed to confirm short term bottoming. Otherwise, further decline is expected to retest 1.2391 low first. Firm break there will resume larger down trend to 61.8% projection of 1.4376 to 1.2391 from 1.3381 at 1.2154 next.
In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 1.4376 (2018 high) is possibly ready to resume. Decisive break of 1.2391 would target a test on 1.1946 long term bottom (2016 low). For now, we don't expect a firm break there yet. Hence focus will be on bottoming signal as it approaches 1.1946. In any case, medium term outlook will stay bearish as long as 1.3381 resistance holds, in case of strong rebound.
In the longer term picture, consolidative pattern from 1.1946 (2016 low) could still extend with another rising leg. But after all, decisive break of 38.2% retracement of 2.1161 (2007 high) to 1.1946 at 1.5466 is needed to indicate long term reversal. Otherwise, an eventual downside breakout will remain in favor.
USD/CHF Weekly Outlook
USD/CHF's recovery was limited at 1.0098 last week, below 1.0119 resistance. Fall from 1.0237 then resumed through 1.0008. Initial bias is back on the downside this week. Next target is 0.9879 low. On the upside, break of 1.0098 is needed to indicate completion of such decline. Otherwise, outlook will stay mildly bearish in case of recovery.
In the bigger picture, USD/CHF is losing upside momentum ahead of 1.0342 key resistance (2016 high). There is no clear sign of reversal yet. But even in case of another rise, we'd be cautious on strong resistance from 1.0342 to limit upside. On the downside, break of 0.9879 support will suggest that larger rise from 0.9186 (2018 low) has completed. Deeper fall will be seen to 0.9716 support for confirmation.
In the long term picture, price actions from 0.7065 (2011 low) are not clearly impulsive yet. Thus, we'll treat it as developing into a corrective pattern, at least, until a firm break of 1.0342 resistance.
AUD/USD Weekly Outlook
AUD/USD recovered mildly last week as consolidation from 0.6864 extended. But outlook is unchanged and initial bias stays neutral this week first. Upside of recovery should be limited by 0.6988 support turned resistance to bring fall resumption. On the downside, break of 0.6864 resume the fall from 0.7295 to 161.8% projection of 0.7295 to 0.7003 from 0.7205 at 0.6733, which is close to 0.6722 low.
In the bigger picture, with 0.7393 key resistance intact, medium term outlook remains bearish. The decline from 0.8135 (2018 high) is seen as resuming long term down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high). Decisive break of 0.6826 (2016 low) will confirm this bearish view and resume the down trend to 0.6008 (2008 low). However, firm break of 0.7393 will argue that fall from 0.8135 has completed. And corrective pattern from 0.6826 has started the third leg, targeting 0.8135 again.
In the longer term picture, prior rejection by 55 month EMA maintained long term bearishness in AUD/USD. That is, down trend from 1.1079 (2011 high) is still in progress. Sustained break of 0.6826 will target 0.6008 low and then 61.8% projection of 1.1079 to 0.6826 from 0.8135 at 0.5507.
USD/CAD Weekly Outlook
USD/CAD edged higher to 1.3564 last week as rise from 1.3068 resumed through 1.3521 resistance. Upside momentum is so far relatively week. But further rally is still expected as long as 1.3429 support holds. USD/CAD should target a test on 1.3664 high next.
In the bigger picture, USD/CAD is staying well inside medium term rising channel (support at 1.3335). Thus, the up trend from 1.2061 (2017 low) should be in progress. On the upside, decisive break of 61.8% retracement of 1.4689 (2016 high) to 1.2061 at 1.3685 will pave the way to 78.6% retracement at 1.4127 next. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.3068 support holds. However, sustained break of the channel support will be the first sign of medium term reversal. Firm break of 1.3068 would confirm.
In the longer term picture, corrective fall from 1.4689 (2015 high) should have completed with three waves down to 1.2061, just ahead of 50% retracement of 0.9406 (2011 low) to 1.4689 (2015 high) at 1.2048. The development keeps long term up trend from 0.9406 and that from 0.9056 (2007 low) intact. For now, there is still prospect of extending the long term up trend through 1.4689.
EUR/CHF Weekly Outlook
EUR/CHF's decline extended to as low as 1.1171 last week and it's now at a critical juncture. We'd still look for strong support from 1.1162 to contain downside to bring near term reversal. On the upside, break of 1.1278 resistance will suggests that fall from 1.1476 has completed and turn near term outlook bullish. However, sustained break of 1.1162 could carry larger bearish implication.
In the bigger picture, at this point, we're seeing fall from 1.2004 as a corrective pattern. And downside should be contained by 61.8% retracement of 1.0629 to 1.2004 at 1.1154. However, sustained break of 1.1154 will confirm resumption of decline from 1.2004. More importantly, this will argue that fall from 1.2004 is itself a long term down trend. Next target will be 1.0629 support next.
EUR/GBP Weekly Outlook
EUR/GBP's rally continued last week even though upside momentum was not too convincing. Initial bias remains on the upside this week for 0.9101 key resistance next. On the downside, break of 0.8790 minor support will turn bias neutral and bring consolidations again. But outlook will remain bullish as long as 0.8681 resistance turned support holds.
In the bigger picture, medium term decline from 0.9305 (2017 high) is seen as a corrective move. No change in this view. Current development argues that it might have completed with three waves down to 0.8472, just ahead of 38.2% retracement of 0.6935 (2015 low) to 0.9306 at 0.8400, after hitting 55 month EMA (now at 0.8511). Decisive break of 0.9101 resistance will confirm this bullish case. Nevertheless, as EUR/GBP is still staying inside long term falling channel, correction from 0.9305 could still extend to 0.8400 fibonacci level before completion.
In the long term picture, we're holding on to the view that rise from 0.6935 (2015 low) is resuming the up trend from 0.5680 (2000 low). As long as 50% retracement of 0.6935 to 0.9304 at 0.8120 holds, further rise should be seen through 0.9305 to 0.9799 and above down the road.
EUR/AUD Weekly Outlook
EUR/AUD's consolidation from 1.6262 continued last week and outlook is unchanged. Initial bias remains neutral this week first. We'd expect downside of consolidation to be contained by 38.2% retracement of 1.5683 to 1.6262 at 1.6041 to bring rise resumption. Correction from 1.6765 has completed with three waves down to 1.5683. On the upside, break of 1.6262 will pave the way to retest 1.6765 high. However, firm break of 1.6041 will dampen this view and bring deeper fall to 61.8% retracement at 1.5904.
In the bigger picture, as long as 1.5346 support holds, outlook will still remain bullish. Up trend from 1.1602 (2012 low) is expected to resume sooner or later. Break of 1.6765 will target 61.8% retracement of 2.1127 (2008 high) to 1.1602 at 1.7488 next. However, firm break of 1.5346 key support will indicate trend reversal, with bearish divergence condition in weekly MACD, and turn outlook bearish.
In the longer term picture, the rise from 1.1602 long term bottom (2012 low) is still in progress for 61.8% retracement of 2.1127 to 1.1602 at 1.7488. This will remain the favored case as long as 1.5346 remains intact.
EUR/JPY Weekly Outlook
EUR/JPY's decline resumed last week and reached as low as 120.92. Initial bias stays on the downside this week for retesting 118.62 low next. On the upside, above 122.08 support turned resistance will turn intraday bias neutral first. But recovery should be limited below 123.73 resistance to bring fall resumption.
In the bigger picture, down trend from 137.49 is still in progress with the cross staying inside long term falling channel. Break of 118.62 will extend the fall to 109.48 (2016 low). On the upside, break of 123.73 resistance is needed to be the first sign of medium term reversal. Otherwise, outlook will remain bearish in case of strong rebound.
In the long term picture, EUR/JPY is staying in long term sideway pattern, established since 2000. Fall from 137.49 is seen as a falling leg inside the pattern. Break of 118.62 will extend this falling leg through 109.48 (2016 low). With EUR/JPY staying below 55 month EMA, this is now the preferred case.
